You are about to make a six-week commitment to this class and your dog. We will do what we can to help you; however, in this class, we cannot train your dog for you. We cannot make your dog learn unless you put in time and regular training with him/her at home. Dog training using behavior conditioning requires about 72 hours for a dog to grasp the idea of something new and seven days of repetition to fully learn it.
Training your dog will help you create the best possible bond with your canine partner. They CAN become the dog you have always wanted, if you are willing to spend the time with them required for training. At this time, only one person should train and work with the dog. As the dog increases his ability, others will be able to give him commands. The person responsible for the feeding, grooming, and care of the dog on a day-to-day basis is the perfect candidate for training the dog's basic commands.
At the end of this six-week course, among other skills, you will have taught your dog to:
* Sit and stay on command * Lie down and stay on command * Walk quietly on a leash, past other people and dogs * Come when called * Leave items alone, unless you say they can sniff * Not to jump up on you or others * Not to rush through doors
